The Presidents View - Volunteer, It's Good For You!
Volunteer – Its good for you
It’s been my experience that the Rotary community is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rotarians go out of their way in almost any situation.
The Rotarian family makes a difference, not just in the local community, but internationally as well.
I know that most of you reading this have volunteered your time and resources for causes with many groups and organizations.
I have good news for you, giving back is proven to be good for you.
In 2013 United Health Care group commissioned a national survey of over 3,500 adults. They found that participants reported feeling mentally and physical healthier after a volunteering experience.
Here are some of the highlights of the survey:
76% who volunteered in the last 12 months stated, that volunteering had made them feel healthier.
94% who volunteered in the last 12 months stated, volunteering improved their mood.
78% who volunteered in the last 12 months stated, volunteering lowered their stress levels.
96% stated that volunteering had enriched their sense of purpose in life.
25% reported that their volunteer work helps them manage a chronic illness by keeping them active and by taking their minds off their own issues.
Isn’t it awesome to know that as Rotarians helping others we are also helping ourselves.
So, lets get out there and help everyone feel better.
Our dedication and commitment make a difference to the world, be the inspiration.
